Canadians pick Vancouver as best city to live in

Vancouverites say it all the time, but it appears the rest of the country seems to agree: Vancouver is the best Canadian city to live in.That was the result of an opinion poll conducted by Angus Reid that asked more than 1,000 Canadians to rate the nation's cities. Canadians also voted the mountain-flanked metropolis as the best city in Canada and the best city to vacation in.

I never thought Cro-Magnons were a desired clientele.The raw hunks of chewy meat that comprised most of my brutishly awful meal at Metro were certainly fit for a caveman (and I hope that will not be misinterpreted in any positive light).

Treaty-making just stealing?

It's clear to me, after hearing the ''leaders'' and ''elders'' from the Huu-ay-aht and Tsawwassen first nations comment on the ratification votes in their communities (Vancouver Island Treaty Passes With Large Majority - July 30; B.C. Native Band Accepts First Urban Treaty - July 26), that this issue of treaty-making is far beyond politics or even rationality. These agreements make no political or financial sense from a first nations perspective, yet they are being ratified nonetheless. (Globe Insider subscribers only)
