Police charge man in Kitsilano killing

The family of Nicole Parisien, the woman who was found dead outside a Kitsilano apartment building Monday, said yesterday it is of little comfort that Vancouver police have arrested and charged a man in connection with her killing.

Money has been pouring in for a 17-year-old Surrey teen whose family can't afford to pay for his long-awaited hip operation.On Wednesday, Shai Fraser-Briscoe and his mother, Shelley, told reporters the fee for the hip-replacement procedure is nearly $4,000 and isn't covered by British Columbia's Medical Services Plan.

Rural and northern leaders oppose boundary proposal

Political leaders from across the north are opposing a recommendation that rural representation be decreased in the provincial legislature.The B.C. Electoral Boundary Commission has proposed reducing the number of rural ridings by three because the population in the region is smaller in those ridings than ridings in the Vancouver area.
