The mayors of Whistler and Vancouver will introduce a motion at this month's Union of British Columbia Municipalities conference that would allow the interim leader of the provincial Green Party to address the delegates - an honour normally reserved for leaders of parties with official status in the legislature.

Benched Beckham could miss exhibition game

Soccer star David Beckham's knee injury has sidelined him for up to six weeks, meaning he could miss a Vancouver exhibition game slated for Oct. 3. Radio listeners pledge money to pay for teen's hip surgery

Money has been pouring in for a 17-year-old Surrey teen whose family can't afford to pay for his long-awaited hip operation.On Wednesday, Shai Fraser-Briscoe and his mother, Shelley, told reporters the fee for the hip-replacement procedure is nearly $4,000 and isn't covered by British Columbia's Medical Services Plan.
