Commission cancels riding-boundary hearings

The B.C. Electoral Boundaries Commission is cancelling public hearings scheduled for this fall, after the province announced there will be new legislation to deal with electoral boundaries.The commission recommended that the legislature be increased by two seats to 81, but that three rural ridings be scrapped while seats are added in the Okanagan and Vancouver areas.

Vancouver police are investigating the city's 15th homicide.A 42-year-old woman was stabbed to death Friday night in a rooming house in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.Police say the woman came out of her room and into the hallway, yelling that she had been stabbed.
