The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is holding meetings this week, working on contingency plans in case the strike by the city's workers is not resolved in the next week.The VSO season is scheduled to open on Sept. 29 with a concert by celebrated American violinist Sarah Chang at the Orpheum, a city-run theatre that is not operating during the strike.

Vancouver police are warning women to keep an eye on their drinks at bars and nightclubs after four women were sexually assaulted after their drinks were spiked with drugs.Constable Tim Fanning is encouraging anyone who's gone home with a new acquaintance, then woken up and not remembered what had happened, to report the incident to police.

Body found in high-rise, Burnaby man in custody

Burnaby Mounties are holding a man in custody after the suspicious death of a woman in a Metrotown high-rise.Police say the body of a woman was found early yesterday after police responded to a 911 call. RCMP say it appears the man and woman knew each other, and the incident is not believed to be a random act. Homicide officers are investigating.
