VSO opening concerts to go ahead as planned
Saturday 29 September 2007
The season-opening concerts for the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will go ahead this weekend - probably behind picket lines. The concerts are to take place tomorrow and Monday at the Orpheum Theatre, which is a city-run property. Since the civic strike began in July, all events scheduled for the Orpheum have been cancelled or moved to other venues. But on Wednesday, the Labour Relations Board issued an interim order preventing pickets from going up outside the stage door for these two shows. That effectively allows the VSO's opening weekend concerts to proceed.
